{"id":51,"date":"2025-06-16T17:12:56","date_gmt":"2025-06-16T15:12:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/habcskwvmx"},"modified":"2025-11-08T15:10:01","modified_gmt":"2025-11-08T14:10:01","slug":"hello-world-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gqm.lpl.univ-paris13.fr\/index.php\/2025\/06\/16\/hello-world-1\/","title":{"rendered":"Coherent control over the high-dimensional space of the nuclear spin of alkaline-earth atoms"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-28f84493 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-center is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:66.66%\">\n<p>By controlling the resonance conditions of Raman transitions with a tensor light shift, we can perform rotations within a restricted Hilbert space of two isolated spin states among the 2\ud835\udc39 +1 =10 possible states. These manipulations correspond to engineering unitary operations derived from generators of the \ud835\udd30u(\ud835\udc41) algebra beyond what is achievable by simple spin precession. We present Ramsey interferometers involving an isolated pair of Zeeman states, with no measurable decoherence after 3\u2009s. We also demonstrate that one can harness the large spin degrees of freedom as a qudit resource by implementing two interferometer schemes over four states. The first scheme senses in parallel multiple external fields acting on the atoms, and the second scheme simultaneously measures multiple observables of a collective atomic state, including non-commuting ones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Engineering unitary transformations of the large spin driven by other generators than the usual spin-\ud835\udc39 representation of the \ud835\udd30u(2) group offers new possibilities from the point of view of quantum metrology and quantum many-body physics, notably for the quantum simulation of large-spin \ud835\udd30u(\ud835\udc41)-symmetric quantum magnetism with fermionic alkaline-earth atoms.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-center is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:33.33%\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full has-custom-border is-style-rounded wp-duotone-unset-1\" id=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-image-cf4b605d\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);margin-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);margin-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20)\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" src=\"https:\/\/gqm.lpl.univ-paris13.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Article-Coherent-control-49438e.svg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1629\" style=\"border-style:none;border-width:0px;border-radius:10px\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The LPL team performs spin-rotation operations using 4 internal states (m1,2,3,4) of strontium.
