The assembly of the new vacuum chamber begins

After a long design period, we have just started the construction of the main vacuum chamber for version 2.0 of the chromium BEC experiment. The assembly is powered by our new post-doc Fatima and our summer intern Esther. Let's hope there is no leak!

This new chamber in the chromium BEC lab will allow us to have more space for high-resolution, high-numerical-aperture imaging systems and a better control of the magnetic environment around the Cr Bose-Einstein condensate. These developments will allow us the study the thermalization of quantum many-body systems.

With, from left to right, Benjamin Pasquiou, Esther Fromm, and Fatima Rahmouni.
